if you don’t care for Sade or her music, stop reading now.
anyway, another milestone scratched off the list. finally got to see Sade in concert after coming up lame the last couple times she toured. which is not often. so i was in the place to be in Milan, to experience one of the more intimate shows you could possibly get at a sports stadium. i told myself before i got there not to be one of those people singing along the whole damn time, and was successful at that.
i was curious to see what kind of crowd would attend. turns out, mostly women (but a huge number of guys, too). virtually no youth–i didn’t see many people in their twenties. i would estimate the general age range at thirties up through the sixties. this explained the (more) energetic responses when the band would lead into material from the Diamond Life, Promise, and Stronger Than Pride albums. not to say that the crowd wasn’t enthused for joints from Love Deluxe, Lover’s Rock and Soldier Of Love (the band opened their set with the title track from the latter). in fact, Milano was incredibly hyped the whole show.
i won’t say much about the night, since i’m not a reviewer or critic. but i did renew my vows with Ms. Adu after the show. here’s some video by my man (Milano’s own) Alex DePonti–owner of Vinylbroker’s Records and a fellow lifelong Sade fan:
